Sunday Search of the Week 7-12-2009

by Will on July 12, 2009

This one shows how valuable a comment on this site can be for you. At first I thought the searcher being directed here was a mistake, but then I did the search myself and found the first comment on this old post.

The search phase was:  “Jay Burgess” Oregon

Funny how a comment by that author and a mention and link to Oregon Tilth by me in the post can put the post at the top of a search like that.

hi Will,
This is a nice “educational” Sunday search (i.e. comments add content!). But it also introduces a mystery…
I was wondering if your searcher found the right Jay (or if at least he was from Oregon) so I clicked through on his comment link. The comment was left in 2008, but it goes to a new (and empty) blog set up in 2009, with no “about” info and only a “hello world” wordpress post. I’m guessing he let his domain expire and someone else got it and hasn’t done anything with it?
Bottom line, I wonder if we will every know if this was Jay Burgess from Oregon… Steve, the ever-curious trade show guru

Hey Steve – We can always count on you to dig up a bit more info whenever I have a mystery of question. Thanks for your curiosity. I think he has commented more than once here. I’ll check. I also believe I successfully followed his link previously as I usually check out the site of anyone who comments and leaves a link. You may be correct about the expiration. It sure is the kind of domain name people would want!
