@JD – It is solid and quite heavy, yes.
@Brooke – The thing I thought I remembered was maybe I used it when I put down some 12 inch square linoleum tiles on a desk in my daughter’s room. But then I thought it was too small to have used it for that.
Is it used to apply stamps?
Stamps is a good guess but I know I did not use it for that. I honestly don’t remember what I originally used it for.
hmm…. my first guess is a rolling pin, but it’s too beautiful and quite small just to be used to make some dough:)… i’m more inclined to techfun’s suggestion… in any case, it will be a wonderful heirloom for your kids and grandkids and great-grandkids, etc., etc…:)

Please excuse my tardiness; I am still making my way through the WW list.
Because it is of weighted metal has a handle, small and the roller itself is smooth, I should think it would be a tool used for application of design using (linoleum) ink blocks or the like……manual printing. Unlike the aforementioned intaglio printing, in which the ink is set from the blanks, this would be used to weight the block (rolling it back and forth over the back of the block) to be sure all the surface makes contact and is printed.
The fact that you have it / once bought it doesn’t mean that you bought it for its intended purpose or that you have ever used it. I have bought many things and used them for other than what they were designed for……where there’s a will there’s a way?……When you can’t find what you are looking for, make do with what you have at hand? I am guessing there isn’t a name engraved on it anywhere…..if it has that could be helpful. If you have used it, was it clean or did you clean it up for this shot? If there was paint of ink on it that would be a clue as to what you used it for, which could in turn remind you as to where you bought it, which my trigger why.
I hope you find your answer soon, for I know how it can be quite distracting till you do.

When I saw your latest post title, I wondered if some were going without clothes or what. Then I read the post. Interesting. Some of the comments are really funny in themselves. I have no idea who this guy is, but he obviously has something women want!
@Robin – You are correct, it is distracting! It was clean when we found it. But that is not really a clue as I am usually very good about leaving tools in clean condition when finished. There is no writing or stamp or anything like that on it. I keep thinking I used it for some linoleum squares, but it is almost too small for that.
Will, I think it’s more like a stamp roller, according to its size and appearance. Maybe, it’s time to refresh your memory back…
I didn’t know that something like that existed, a stamp roller, you need lot of stamps on the envelope to roll it. I thought it was a pizza roller, lol, but seeing the size, I change my mind. Anna

The scary thing is I eat huge amounts of vegetables. I guess I am a hopeless cause in the memory department. I had never heard of Meerkats until I saw that old NG. Then just this week I saw one on the NG channel attacking and eating a scorpion! Amazing video.
