Smoke from the California wildfires one hundred plus miles to the south has given us dramatic views of the sun and colored the earth a warm shade of red.

The smoke sure makes the sky look interesting – and kind of eerie.

Betty July 1, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I have the same opinion like Jennifer. The color combination in the second photo really looks beautiful.

Hope the smoke doesn’t bother you too much. I remember it from our fires here in October when our house burned down. The smell is still in some of my boxes.

Really lovely photos.

well, at least the fire has brought one good thing — these wonderful photos (especially the first one)… but i do hope there won’t be too many wildfire accidents this year in your area :)

It’s amazing how something so far away can have such an effect on your sky.

Beautiful shots … though I don’t envy you the smoky conditions. Thanks for sharing, and for dropping by Small Reflections earlier today.

Beautiful pictures. The sky looks amazing.

Your photos are lovely. Amazing how something like smoke can cause such beautiful scenery. We moved to Northern California in August of 1987, when there were a lot of fires burning and I remember being so in awe of how red the sunsets were.

Thanks for dropping by. :D
