hi Will, I almost mentioned in my comment above that I though I saw pollen on the uppermost leaf. You have an amazing camera to capture that level of detail. I didn’t know that there were “pollenless” flowers (I wonder how they reproduce?). My wife got some flowers delivered for her birthday (from a friend via a florist) and they were a mess! Pollen everywhere! I didn’t even think they looked that good, but that’s another story. Anyway, and again, GREAT SUNFLOWER PICTURE! ~ Steve

I plant these big ones for the birds in the fall. IT is really nice when cleaning up the garden in October to have them all over working on the huge heads. I also plant other varieties for cut flowers. Some even have no pollen, so are great indoors without making a mess on the table.

hi Will, I kind of wish “wordless Wednesdays” weren’t completely wordless… although the picture speaks for itself, I’m wondering where you took it? Is that giant sunflower in your yard? We’re growing wild sunflowers in our yard. Instead of one huge flower, you get dozens of smaller flowers all over the plant. Our sunflowers are about 6ft tall and are just starting to flower. Anyway, great picture! ~ Steve
