Red Wine and Peanut Butter

by

This week’s search, “what red wine goes with skippy”, is not as odd as some, but still interesting.  This is a combination I never would have thought of but maybe I will try it tonight!  I think I will skip the Skippy brand though.  I like my organic, salt-less, nothing but peanuts, brand. On the other hand, maybe there is a market for peanut butter wine. Or if I know Binky, maybe peanut butter wine gums!

Believe it or not, I’ve never tried peanut butter & wine gums! Like you, I like my peanut butter all natural with nothing added, too. It needs no salt or sugar. I used to make my own (I have an electric peanut butter mill/grinder), and warm peanut butter right off the mill is very nice!

I used to work in a health food shop where we made peanut paste – it was just pure peanuts put through a grinder and you chose whether you wanted smooth or lumpy. We used to sell heaps of it! Just shows that you don’t need all of those additives!

I’ll be darned! When I was in college I wrote a song called “What Kind of Wine Goes With Peanut Butter Toast,” about this fair-dinkum bourgeois dilemma. I see it addles many.

I guess it depends on wether you eat the peanut butter & drink the wine or mix them together into a thickshake type drink. Blech…

That thought actually caused a bit of a turnover in my tummy Tony.
