Hi Steve – It is volcanic rock, but I am not sure about the Indian Paintbrush. Looked like it, but it seems to early. It was in the Siskiyou mountains. The Cascades are still snow covered, so can’t get there yet. I imagine the Sierra is snowed in still too? I have not been down there in at least 15 years!

I’m 99 percent sure that it’s the Indian Paintbrush, Will. I have been studied the botanical before and done so much research on the wildflowers…
I’m not good at identifications, but I do enjoy wildflowers!
