Sunday Search of the Week 5-23-2010

by

This week’s search is:
“can a beetle eat a whole pumpkin” .

I wanted to plant my squash and pumpkins this weekend but the weather has been so cold and wet I am concerned the seeds may rot. Hopefully I will get them in the ground this coming week if the weather warms. If it stays cold it may be too late to get a good crop next fall. This may be for the best if the fears of this week’s searcher come true!

I guess if it’s hungry enough & depending on how big the beetle is too

Hey Will,
I guess if the beetle is really big, or the pumpkin is really small… ๐Ÿ™‚
I wonder if the searcher really meant if a full grown (i.e. mature) pumpkin would be save from beetles. I do know that we have a small white pumpkin that we grew last fall that is still out on our front step. People (myself included) are amazed it is still ok and hasn’t rotted, and no beetles have eaten it either. ๐Ÿ˜€

I think the searcher was probably dealing with squash beetles or bugs, but thinking about one beetle eating a whole pumpkin is more fun!
