Thanks all for the comments! I hiked up Lower Table Rock here in Southern Oregon. It is a fairly short, (2 miles) hike but a great view from the top. I was sitting a few feet from the edge eating my lunch when I noticed the grazing Bovine. So I was not in a plane or helicopter or hot air balloon, (that would have been fun). It is as gtyyup thought in the comment above, a rock rim. But I was still several feet from the edge. Occasionally someone dies up there climbing around on the edge when loose rock gives way. So I stay well back!
